Funded HAI project positions involving dogs and children

The University of Arizona are recruiting for two positions for a funded Human Animal Interaction (HAI) project. The project investigates the roles of oxytocin and vasopressin in HAI, involving dogs and 8-10 year old children.

Full-time Research Coordinator

The Arizona Canine Cognition Center (PI Evan MacLean) and Laboratory for the Evolutionary Endocrinology of Primates (PI Stacey Tecot) seeks a full-time Research Coordinator to assist with studies on the biology of human-animal interaction.

The position is fully funded for 2 years, with the possibility of renewal contingent on availability of funding. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and participating in all day-to-day operations of our research on dog-child interactions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND one year of laboratory activities experience; OR, five years of laboratory activities or related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Previous coursework or experience in fields related to animal behavior, developmental psychology, neuroscience, or endocrinology

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous research experience working with human children, families and/or domestic dogs
  • Laboratory skills (pipetting, immunoassays, sample purification).

Postdoctoral Scholar

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for leading an NIH-funded study on the roles of oxytocin and vasopressin in human-animal interaction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Anthropology, Neuroscience, Endocrinology, Zoology, or related fields
  • Previous research experience working with families and children or nonhuman animals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Laboratory skills (pipetting, immunoassays, sample purification)
  • Programming skills for data visualization and analysis
