26 August 2021 is #DogDay. Reports of a surge in dog ownership during the pandemic have led to untold joy to many. However, a lack of proper training or socialisation has unfortunately led to a growing danger of attacks. Dog bites can be bad news for the dog as well as for the bite recipient.
The Merseyside Dog Safety Partnership is a group of experts in dog bite prevention, dedicated to helping communities keep their dogs, children, family & friends safe. Various resources for both the general public and professionals are available here. These recommendations are based on research into the causes and prevention of dog bites, undertaken by Dr. Carri Westgarth’s research team at the University of Liverpool.
