AAI and One Health
Collaborative AAI Programmes: Replicable approaches to community development, Thursday 3 November at 7pm.
In contrast to most other Animal-assisted Intervention (AAI) programmes in the UK, People and Animals involve a wide range of species including pigs, goats, sheep, ponies, chickens, rabbits, chickens and dogs. Their programmes are delivered at Community Farms in Hereford and in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
We invite you to join with us to learn more about how they deliver therapeutic interventions for a wide range of clients, and gain an insight into how collaborative working can grow a concept, into a series of sustainable and replicable AAI programmes across different parts of the UK.
One Health Day
One Health Day is a
global campaign that celebrates and raises awareness to the need for a One
Health approach to address shared challenges involving humans, animals and our
shared environment.
The One Health Commission defines One Health as
“a collaborative, multisectoral, and trans-disciplinary approach — working at local, regional, national, and global levels — to achieve optimal health and well-being outcomes recognizing the interconnections between people, animals, plants and their shared environment.”
The health and welfare of people and animals is inextricably linked, and challenges are best addressed by applying a transdisciplinary approach. Animal-assisted interventions (AAI) employ a transdisciplinary collaboration to deliver health and social benefits to clients by involving carefully selected and accredited animals.
